A dehumidifier operates like an air conditioner that has both its hot and cold coils in the same box. A fan draws the room's air over the cold coil of the air conditioner in order to bring its temperature below the dew point. The condensed water is collected in a tank. Then the cold but dry air is passed through the hot coil to heat it back up to its original temperature and fed back into the room.
