Bottle nitrogen is a cost-effective solution for creating a low-oxygen atmosphere for medium-sized tents, especially when combined with oxygen scavengers.
Flushing a tent six times with nitrogen reduces the oxygen content to approx. 0.4%. Nitrogen with a relatively low purity will be sufficient, e.g. 99.99% (4.0).
ATCO FTM 2000S oxygen absorbers will further reduce the oxygen level and keep it low. The calculation of the necessary quantity of scavenger should include the oxygen permeating through the barrier film during treatment.
If flushing is to be carried out only by gas from nitrogen bottles the flushing time and frequency may have to be prolonged to reach the target value. In addition, residual oxygen must be checked several times during the treatment, and flushing must be repeated if necessary.
A 10 l nitrogen tank contains approx. 1.9 m³ of nitrogen at 200 bar. Nitrogen bottles are difficult to ship due to their weight. We therefore recommend buying or renting them from a local supplier.
